We are celebrating Forest Sunday on Sept. 4th and the Green Team has some valuable information regarding our forests.
Forests are complex mosaics of plants, animals and micro-organisms both above and below the ground. Forests are valued for their role in water conservation and carbon sequestration; as sacred places, as places for recreation and renewal, as sources of grazing and browse for cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and horses; medicinals, food from plants and animals; timber and poles; fuelwood, bark for rope, fiber for paper production; green manure and much more.
