Dr. Elizabeth Pearl Penumaka died unexpectedly Thursday morning, July 28, 2011, at Kaiser Hospital in Fremont. The cause of death was a virulent form of mycoplasma pneumonia.
Elizabeth and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Moses Penumaka (the director of TEEM at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary) and their two daughters Hannah and Evangel were members of the Chapel until they moved to Fremont a number of years ago when Pr. Surrounded at home by his wife, Jan, and his children and grandchildren, The Rev. Robert W. Mattheis, Bishop Emeritus of the Sierra Pacific Synod, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011. He had been receiving treatment and hospice care for bone cancer. Continue reading
